A Very Potter Halloween

Hello everyone! I hope that you all had a very spooooooky  Halloween. This Halloween my friends and I took a trip to the Ithaca Commons, where the different business owners turned an intersection into Diagon Alley.

It was honestly impressive how many people showed up. I believe 5,000 people went to the event throughout the day! Besides Apple Fest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the area as busy as it was on Saturday.

There were lots of different events, but in order to find them all, you had to get a map. In getting your map you were sorted into a family. I, obviously, chose Ravenclaw! Between all my friends we got all the houses. What a diverse cast, haha.

So many people were dressed up for the event. My favorite was a young couple dressed up as Gryffindor students and their baby wore a beat up looking pillow cover, fake elf ears, and had a sock on his hand. He was the cutest Dobby I’ve ever seen!! Another woman was dressed up as Professor Trelawney and even had a light up crystal ball that she made herself.

Walking around we passed by little kids playing Wizard’s Chess. A kid siting on a rook was shouting, “Kill the knight!” So it was clearly an intense game. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology also set up a small area where they showed us different kinds of owls, and the old theater was playing Harry Potter movies all day. There were wizard duels, butter beer, and even a balloon basilisk. There was even a German circus act! It was hilarious. Normally I’m not one for sideshows, but he mixed the right amount of adult humor into the kids show. I didn’t get to see as much as I wanted because I had to run off to work, but it was such a great time. I hope that this happens again next year. I would definitely go!

Are any of you guys Harry Potter fans? Who’s your favorite character? And what house would you  be in?

And a very special shout out to my lovely friends who came out with me. Especially Victoria who took the pictures of the circus act because I was too short to get a good angle, haha.

See you soon,

Jamu
